Man accused of sex assault

Jose De Jesus Zavala-Hernandez, 70, was arrested on a 2002 warrant on suspicion of sexually assaulting a girl and sexual assault by a person in a position of trust for an incident that allegedly occurred in September 2002.

Zavala-Hernandez was extradited from Del Rio, Texas, to face the charges in Mesa County.  He was handed a $50,000 bond Monday and will face formal filing of charges next week.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

Michael Mallory, 51, received a summons Friday for allegedly soliciting sexual acts in the northwest part of the city.

Adriana Hernandez, 20, received a summons Wednesday for allegedly shoplifting at a business at the 2424 U.S. Highway 6&50.

Steven Gattis, 18, and a 17-year-old boy received summonses Friday for allegedly shoplifting at a business in the 2800 block of North Ave.

Dawn Lobato, 21, received a summons Sunday for allegedly causing two counts of third-degree assault and in the 2880 block of Elm Avenue.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

James Ryan Rudder, 23, 2226 N. 21st St., was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

About $700 in damages was caused Sunday to a trailer in the 2900 block of B Road.

Deputies contacted a man Sunday in the 600 block of Bradford Court who told police a neighbor had threatened to kill his dogs if they continued to bark. The neighbor denied the allegations and the case was cleared.
