Car injures pedestrian
A pedestrian was hit by a car and seriously injured Sunday evening while crossing North Avenue near 23rd Street, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.
About 5:40 p.m., a sedan heading east on North Avenue just west of 23rd Street hit the pedestrian, who was crossing the road at an area not designated as a crosswalk, according to police. The pedestrian was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with serious bodily injury, the extent of which was not known Sunday night.
The driver of the sedan was uninjured, according to police. The cause of the accident was not determined Sunday night.
Car damages light pole
A car crashed into a light pole on North Avenue near 12th Street on Sunday evening, damaging the pole but not hurting the driver, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.
About 6:10 p.m. Sunday evening, a small sedan heading west on North Avenue hit a light pole just west of 12th Street, according to police. The driver and occupant weren’t injured in the incident, according to police, but the pole was knocked from its base.
Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash, according to police.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department did not release an activity log on Jan. 1.
