Drugs alleged in arrest
Shawn Alan Gray, 51, 620 Serenade St., was arrested Tuesday after Western Colorado Drug Task Force officers stopped him for a traffic violation and found him in possession of suspected methamphetamine.
Gray could face charges of possession of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence, violating bail-bond conditions, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, the task force said. He is being held in the Mesa County Jail on $50,000 bond.
According to an arrest affidavit, officers stopped Gray for weaving in the area of Patterson Road and 15th Street and found more than a gram of meth, syringes and more than $2,800 in cash inside the truck. Authorities said Gray was out of jail on bond in another felony case.
Assault on deputies alleged
A Mesa County woman was arrested Tuesday after she allegedly assaulted and threatened a Grand Valley Transit bus driver, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department said.
Leora Bernice Medina-Reaves, 48, address unavailable, is being held in the Mesa County Jail on $10,000 bond.
According to an arrest affidavit, deputies were called to the parking lot of Mount Garfield Middle School, 3475 F Road, on a report that an intoxicated woman was disrupting the bus and wouldn’t keep her hands off people on the bus.
Deputies eventually handcuffed Medina-Reaves and took her to jail after she attempted to bite one deputy and spit on another, the affidavit said. Deputies said they found a half-consumed bottle of Southern Comfort and a small amount of marijuana in her clothes.
Medina-Reaves could face charges of endangering public transportation, introduction of contraband, resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, harassment, disorderly conduct, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Woman accused of assault
A Fruita woman was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of felony third-degree assault on an at-risk person, according to the Fruita Police Department.
According to an arrest affidavit, Shonda Lee Davis, 45, 203 S. Mesa St., Unit B, used her right index finger to poke a 64-year-old woman in the head after an argument about paying bills.
An at-risk adult is defined as anyone over age 18 who is unable to care for themselves because of a mental or physical condition.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
Lucas Nathan Salazar, 23, 3060 Sandpiper Ave., was arrested Tuesday at 12th Street and Rood Avenue on suspicion of menacing with a deadly weapon and third-degree criminal trespass
Someone stole more than $1,000 in property from a home in the 400 block of North 24th Street on Monday.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:
Richard James Atencio, 25, 610 Helena St., No. 15, was arrested Tuesday in the 3200 block of F Road on suspicion of second-degree assault.
