Man accused of threat

Robert Gene Maclaskey, 47, 2131 N. Ninth St., No. 2, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of retaliation against a witness and violation of a protection order, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

Maclaskey called the victim and told him to relay a message that if his mother didn’t drop the restraining order against Maclaskey, he would come after her legally and “have someone go after her new boyfriend and mess with his vehicle,” according to an arrest affidavit. Police interviewed Maclaskey, who said he called the woman’s son but denied making those threats.

Fight surprises resident

A Mesa County resident had a rude awakening early Sunday morning when seeing two men and a woman he did not know fighting on his doorstep, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.

The men continued to fight after deputies arrived and ordered them to stop. Deputies used a Taser on one of the men. Both men received summonses for fighting in public, and the woman was issued a summons on suspicion of consuming alcohol as a minor, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Man carrying child booked

Christopher Keith Andrews, 34, 515 Court Road, was arrested Monday on suspicion of reckless endangerment, probation violation, child abuse and meth possession, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department said.

Witnesses told deputies Andrews was carrying a crying child in the 500 block of Court Road, according to his arrest affidavit. The small girl who was with Andrews told police Andrews had been carrying her around and telling her people were shooting at them, but she could not see them, the affidavit said.

Deputies found a cap for a syringe and a small baggie with a white substance, which tested positive for meth, in Andrews’ pocket, the affidavit said.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

Dustin Daves, 19, was issued a summons June 12 on suspicion of consuming alcohol as a minor near mile marker 32 on Interstate 70.

Justin Konavage, 19, was arrested Thursday on a warrant after a motor vehicle crash. He also received a summons on suspicion of reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with an excessive alcohol content, driving under restraint, underage possession of alcohol and failing to present evidence of auto insurance.

Breanah Ramirez, 25, was issued a summons Friday on suspicion of littering at Seventh Street and Patterson Road. Another motorist told police he saw Ramirez drop orange peels and pea pods after she ate the food. Ramirez said the motorist made an obscene gesture and honked his horn at her and appeared to be yelling profanities, so she believed she was involved in a road-rage incident.

Derek Riley, 24, was issued a summons Sunday on suspicion of interfering with police, having a dog at large and being intoxicated in the roadway at North Ninth Street and Bookcliff Avenue.

Someone stole items valued at less than $100 from a vehicle Monday that was parked at Wal-Mart, 2545 Rimrock Ave.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

Someone vandalized a mailbox July 7 in the 1400 block of 19 Road.

Deputies responded to a report Thursday of an assault that occurred in the 500 block of Grand Valley Drive.

Deputies responded to a report of an assault to the 400 block of 32 Road on Friday. Deputies determined a man struck his girlfriend in the face during an argument.

Deputies are investigating a break-in that occurred Friday at a storage unit in the 500 block of Centennial Street.

Deputies contacted an intoxicated man who was begging for money in the 3200 block of F Road on Saturday. Deputies had warned the man earlier that day about loitering. When deputies contacted him the second time, the man was issued a summons on suspicion of trespassing, and he was taken to Colorado West Mental Health for detoxification.

Deputies were dispatched to a fight Sunday in the 400 block of Coronado Way. Deputies contacted three intoxicated men, two of whom had warrants for their arrest. The three men received summonses.

Deputies were dispatched to a report of felony menacing Sunday that occurred in the 400 block of 32 1/8 Road. Deputies contacted several people who either witnessed the event or were involved in the incident.

Deputies took a report of a robbery that occurred Sunday in the 2900 block of Orchard Avenue, where a man was struck in the head with a board by two other men. The suspects then took cash from the victim’s pocket and fled on foot.

A man reported that someone drained coolant from his truck while it was parked near Vega Reservoir on Friday. Damages are estimated at $3,000.
