Police to have info booth

The Grand Junction Police Department will have a booth at the Downtown Farmers Market from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today to help inform citizens about its programs.

The Police Department’s booth will be between Fourth Street and Fifth Street near Brown’s Shoes.

The Police Department will educate people about its online reporting system, the Community and Emergency Alert System and the TAG graffiti-removal program. In addition, tours of a police vehicle will be available.

Man stabbed in disturbance

Police responding to a disturbance call Tuesday night at a North Avenue shopping center found a 23-year-old man stabbed twice in the chest, the Grand Junction Police Department said Wednesday.

Police were called about 6:30 p.m. to the Eastgate Shopping Center, 2830 North Ave., where they found a man with two wounds in the upper chest/armpit area. He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

The man’s identity and condition weren’t released by the Police Department.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 242-6707 or 241-STOP.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

Derek Alan Giese, 38, 506 32 1/2 Road in Clifton, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of burglary, third-degree assault and criminal mischief of between $1,000 and $20,000.

A 2005 Ford water truck valued at more than $20,000 was stolen Tuesday from the 600 block of 24 Road. It was found at the intersection of Orchard Avenue and 29 1/4 Road.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

A Colorado Division of Wildlife squirrel trap was stolen from an orchard in the 2500 block of Riata Ranch Road on Tuesday.

Someone stole $1,000 in cash from an unlocked vehicle Tuesday in the 500 block of Villa Street.

According to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department:

Mark Steven Orrin Rice, 47, of Parachute, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of trespassing and indecent exposure after he allegedly was found naked in a neighbor’s residence.
