Man accused of sex assaults
Scott Anthony Tyrrell, 35, Grand Junction, was arrested Wednesday on a Mesa County Sheriff’s Department warrant alleging multiple counts of sexual assault on a child. The alleged victim came forward in March and told investigators she was assaulted on numerous occasions between 2002 and 2007, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Tyrrell was ordered jailed Thursday on $300,000 bond.
Fruita drowning an accident
Diana Lynn Bailey, 59, of Fruita, suffered a head injury when she fell near an ornamental pond Wednesday morning, which caused her to collapse into the pond, the Mesa County Coroner’s Office said. The death was ruled an accidental drowning.
Exposure case sent to DA
Grand Junction police on Tuesday took a report of a man who allegedly walked out of a bathroom,wearing only a T-shirt at the Rescue Mission, 550 South Ave. Police spokeswoman Kate Porras said the case was forwarded to the district attorney’s office for a decision on possible charges.
Woman killed in Utah crash
A Colorado woman was killed but her three young children survived after their pickup rolled on Interstate 84 west of Tremonton, Utah, according to The Associated Press. Utah Highway Patrol troopers say the 23-year-old woman from Meeker was driving west on I-84 about 3 p.m. Wednesday when the vehicle veered into the center median and swerved back onto the highway before crashing and rolling over. They say the woman wasn’t wearing a seat belt but remained inside the vehicle with her three children. The 4-year-old boy, 2-year-old girl and a 9-month-old boy were all secured in the vehicle and received only minor injuries.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
A manager at The Granite Store, 2465 Highway 6&50, reported Monday that a computer was stolen from the business sometime between May 14 and May 15.
A man reportedly was assaulted Tuesday as he was walking down North Avenue, near Kmart, by several people in a car who were involved in a verbal confrontation with the man. The alleged victim suffered a broken arm, while police reported limited suspect information. Anyone with information is asked to call Mesa County Crime Stoppers, 241-STOP.
A known male was found to be in possession of “distribution amounts” of cocaine during a contact that happened May 1. Police said the case is still under investigation and provided no other information.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:
A man who was reportedly assaulted Wednesday by several people in the 500 block of Garfield Drive declined medical treatment. The case remains under investigation.
A woman in the 500 block of Hornbaker Drive reported Wednesday that flour had put on her car, the third time it has happened in the past month.
A woman in the 500 block of 32 1/8 Road reported Wednesday that her vehicle had been “keyed,” causing damage estimated at $400.
According to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department:
Deputies estimated damage around $3,000 to several bleachers at 35956 U.S. Highway 6 near Silt. The incident was reported Wednesday, and there are no suspects.
