Blue Angels to return for September air show
The Blue Angels will visit Grand Junction this fall after deciding on the city as the host for the aerial team’s flights in Colorado.
The Blue Angels’ blue and yellow-trimmed Boeing F/A-18 Hornets, which are recognized around the nation, will headline Air Show! Western Colorado 2012 at Grand Junction Regional Airport on Sept. 21–23.
The show is a return performance as the Blue Angels performed in Grand Junction in 2008.
The event this year will include a variety of aerial performances, with the Blue Angels topping the Saturday and Sunday shows. The show will include a wide variety of displays of military and nonmilitary aircraft.
Air Show! Western Colorado 2012 is a joint effort of Grand Junction Air Show Inc., the airport, West Star Aviation, Grand Junction, Mesa County, Colorado Highway Patrol, Bureau of Land Management, and many other public and safety agencies.
The air show is “truly a community event that provides positive economic impact to the area,” said Mike Anton, president of Grand Junction Air Show Inc., noting the mission of the show is to benefit area charities and nonprofit organizations.
