Local book-signings scheduled

A number of book-signings are planned for this week in the area:

Robert Silbernagel, author of “Troubled Trails: The Meeker Affair and the Expulsion of Utes from Colorado,” will give a slide presentation related to the book at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 2451 Patterson Road.

Kathy Hurt will sign copies of her book, “Waypoints Along the Book Mountains” from 3–5 p.m. Saturday at Hastings Books, Music & Video, 2401 North Ave.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers will host three authors for a book-signing from 2–4 p.m. Saturday.

Featured at the author event will be: Cammi Balleck, “Making Happy Happen;” Carroll Multz, “Deadly Deception;” and Willyn Webb, “Teaching Generation Text: Using Cell Phones to Enhance Learning.”

Forum offers Christmas event

The Western Colorado Writers’ Forum will host A Literary Christmas, with choral music and readings beginning at 7 p.m. Friday at the forum, 800 Colorado Ave.

Recitations will include classic poems and stories, such as “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” and “Twas the Night ...”

Families are welcome. Christmas sweets and hot cider will be offered. There also will be a raffle and door prizes.

Stories, memories focus of event

Visit Mesa County Libraries’ Central Library for “The Memory of Christmas from 2–4 p.m. Saturday.

There will be Christmas stories and poems and the opportunity to write a Christmas memory as a story or poem with the help of two authors from the Western Colorado Writers’ Forum.

Also learn how to make small book gift using the stories.

Registration encouraged by calling the library at 243-4442.

Program highlights poetry, music

John and Isadora Nizalowski will combine poetry and music for a performance at 7 p.m. Friday at Planet Earth & Four Directions Gallery, 524 Colorado Ave.

Admission is free.
