Both Mesa basketball teams in national picture
The Colorado Mesa University women’s basketball team broke into the top 25 today and the men’s team is receiving votes in their respective national polls.
The women (6-0) have been receiving votes the past two weeks, but are No. 25 this week in the USA Today/Women’s Basketball Coaches Association poll, with 74 votes. Colorado Mesa is the only RMAC team in the top 25, with two others, CSU-Pueblo and Fort Lewis, receiving votes.
In the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II men’s rankings, the Mavericks (5-1) received five votes. Fort Lewis received 14. Metro State remained No. 3 in the nation.
The Mavericks host Western New Mexico on Friday and New Mexico Highlands on Saturday at Brownson Arena. The women’s game tips off at 5:30 each night, with the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
