Youth rescued after falling through ice

A Danger Thin Ice sign on the banks of Shadow Lake in the Ridges on the Redlands and the hole in the ice after at 14-year-old boy fell thought about 5p.m. Sunday afternoon.

A Grand Junction boy was pulled from a cold lake on the Redlands unharmed after falling through the ice Sunday afternoon, according to the Grand Junction Fire Department.

Neighbors pulled the boy to safety before the Fire Department arrived Shadow Lake, which is at the intersection of Shadow Lake Drive and Mariposa Drive.

The boy, whose was believed to be 12 to 14 years old, fell through the ice between 5 and 5:30 p.m. According to the Fire Department, he and a friend had walked out onto the ice when the boy fell through.

He was not taken to the hospital, the Fire Department said.

The boy fell in near a sign warning of the dangers of the ice on Shadow Lake.
