Montrose street project to begin
Beginning today, the city of Montrose will begin a paving project on South Second Street between Cascade and Uncompahgre avenues.
The project will include drainage improvements, partial sidewalk replacement, construction of sidewalk access ramps for disabled people. and a pavement overlay of the roadway. The project is the first phase of a two-phase project. The second phase will be completed in 2014 with funding from a federal grant and will include additional sidewalk replacement, installation of pedestrian lighting and decorative landscaping.

Walgreens to help Latimer fundraiser
The Walgreens store at First Street and Patterson Road will host a Coke float event from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Thursday to support the Men in Heels Race, which will benefit Latimer House.
The public is invited to stop by for a Coke float. All donations received will be donated by Walgreens on behalf of its Men in Heel Race team.

Campground, trail dedication set
The Ouray Ranger District of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests will conduct a community celebration to dedicate the newly constructed Columbine Campground and the Parallel Trail on the Uncompahgre Plateau.
The celebration will be from 11 a.m.– 1 p.m. Saturday, with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon.
There will be hot dogs and drinks available, provided by the Public Lands Partnership.
