$30,000 grant given to Hilltop Resources
Hilltop Community Resources has received a $30,000 Daniels Fund grant to support its domestic violence programs.
Hilltop operates two domestic violence programs: Latimer House in Mesa County and Tri-County Resources in Delta, Montrose and Ouray counties.
Both programs provide emergency shelter, individual and group counseling, advocacy, children’s services and 24-hour crisis lines for those affected by domestic violence and sexual assault in Mesa, Delta, Montrose and Ouray counties.
Libraries will be closed on Labor Day
Mesa County Libraries locations will be closed Monday in recognition of the Labor Day holiday.
All library locations will also be closed the morning of Sept. 10 for computer hardware migration and staff training. Library locations will open at 1 p.m. on Sept. 10 with limited services the rest of the day.
The Central Library, 443 N. Sixth St. will begin its seasonal Sunday hours beginning Sept. 8. Central Library is open from 1–5 p.m. Sundays beginning the Sunday after Labor Day and ending the Sunday before Memorial Day.

Grand Mesa Run benefits troops, vets
The sixth annual Grand Mesa Poker Run will take place Sept. 7, traveling over the Grand Mesa.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. at Randy’s Diner in Clifton. Cost is $10 per rider. There will be five stops, going to Delta, over the Mesa and returning to Grand Junction. There will be prizes and food at the end of the run, with proceeds benefitting troops and veterans.
