Archaeology class offered

A class in Archeology Practice in Colorado, formally called Introduction to Archeology, will be offered March 8–9, in Montrose.

The two day class, presented by State Archeologist Kevin Black, is part of the Program for Avocational Archeological Certification and is designed to provide persons interested in the archeology of Western Colorado a brief introduction to the profession, common terms and preservation issues of cultural remains.

Drug-free program in Montrose


The Coalition for a Drug Free Montrose County will host Mesa County Deputy Sheriff Chad Williams of Safe Kids America, for an informative program on heroin, prescription pain medications and the teen brain.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the presentation will be from 7–8:30 p.m. March 6, at Montrose City Hall in the Centennial Room, on the east side of City Hall adjacent to the Centennial Plaza. The material is appropriate for adults and preteens, and parents are encouraged to bring their children. A question and answer period will follow.
