Class set for parents of disabled children
Training for parents of children with disabilities will take place from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at The Center for Independence, 740 Gunnison Ave.
Those who want to participate should RSVP today to Jana Hill at 241-0315. A free dinner will be guaranteed for those who RSVP.
The session will cover multiple topics related to school-age children with disabilities, including legal and financial issues, resources and transition services and individualized education plans in school. An information packet will be provided. Call 245-3414 for information.
Hickenlooper on energy forum list
Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper will be among the speakers this weekend at the Vail Global Energy Forum.
Hickenlooper is scheduled to speak at 12:30 p.m. Saturday about the promises and challenges for the energy economy.”
The forum is being presented by the Precourt Institute for Energy and Precourt Energy Efficiency Center at Stanford University, in conjunction with the Vail Valley Foundation.
Topics include energy efficiency and innovation, and natural gas development.
Events Sunday include speeches by Jim Brown, western hemisphere president for Halliburton, and Mark Zoback, Stanford geophysics professor, on hydraulic fracturing. Also speaking Sunday will former U.S. Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., a former chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, on U.S. energy independence, and Adm. Gary Roughead, former chief of U.S. Naval Operations, on energy innovations in the military.
The event will be held at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in the Beaver Creek Village.
