GarCo meeting to address pollution

Air quality and air pollution sources in Garfield County will be discussed tonight at the monthly Garfield County Energy Advisory Board meeting.

Paul Reaser, Garfield’s environmental health manager, will address the county’s efforts since 2005 to better understand and manage air quality. The meeting will at 6 p.m. at the Rifle Branch Library, 207 East Ave., Rifle.

A social time including a light meal begins at 5:30 p.m. The public is invited.

Water management topic of meeting

 

The public is invited to learn about how water is managed in our region at a three-evening seminar series Feb. 11, 18 and 25, at the Colorado Mesa University Center ballroom.

Each program will run from 6 to 9 p.m. The fee is $45 for the series or $20 per session, which includes materials and light refreshments. Scholarships are available for kindergarten through 12th grade teachers and university students.

The Feb. 11 session will focus on Colorado water law, history and culture; Feb. 18 session will focus on cooperative initiatives for water management and river health; and the Feb. 25 session will focus on current water policy issues.
