Ceremony today for Otto statue
The unveiling of the John Otto statue at Dinosaur Journey Museum will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. today at 550 Jurassic Court, in Fruita.
The statue was commissioned by the Museum of the West and the Fruita Rotary and Lions clubs. It depicts Otto riding a horse with his dog. It is a smaller version of the John Otto statue on Main Street in Grand Junction that is part of the Legends of the Valley sculpture project.
Some county offices closed Wednesday
Mesa County Administrative Offices will be closed on Wednesday in honor of Independence Day.
Offices to be closed are the Health Department and Department of Human Services, 510 29 1/2 Road; Public Works/Planning and the Clerk and Recorder, 200 S. Spruce St.; all the offices at the Mesa County Courthouse, 544 Rood Ave., such as administration, treasurer and assessor; and the Regional Transportation Planning Office, 525 S. Sixth St. Clerk and Recorder branch offices also will be closed.
Offices that will be open Wednesday with normal schedules are the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department, the coroner’s office, Criminal Justice Services and Mesa County Animal Services.
