Partners plans ‘Thanks for Giving’ meal
• Mesa County Partners will have its annual “Thanks For Giving” dinner at 6 p.m. Nov. 20 at the DoubleTree Grand Ballroom, 743 Horizon Drive. The event is sponsored by Chevron. There will be dinner, an awards show and entertainment. Reservations are required by 5 p.m. this Friday.
Partners will have its annual “Wrap Up For Charity” gift wrapping service Dec. 1-24 at Mesa Mall. Shoppers can drop off gifts from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. during mall hours. Volunteers are needed.

Mail deadline for overseas troops Dec. 15
• The U.S. Postal Service will guarantee holiday package arrival on Christmas to U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan if mailed by Dec. 4. Holiday mail to other military overseas APO/FPO addresses should be sent by Dec. 15. Express mail can be used for most military locations if sent by Dec. 18.
All domestic mail including cards, letters and packages to out-of-state destinations should be sent by Dec. 20. Colorado destinations can be sent as late as Dec. 22.
The general deadline for non-military overseas packages is Dec. 11. Packages destined for Africa, Central or South America should be sent by Dec. 4. Express mail can be used by Dec. 19 for most international countries.
Free military care kits are available which include flat rate boxes, priority mail labels, tape and customs forms. Kits are available by calling 1-800-610-8734.
Police giving free gun locks at mall
• The Grand Junction Police Department is giving away free gun locks at the Mesa Mall substation inside the mall. For information, call 244-3601.
Art historian will discuss his travel show
• Lee Sandstead, celebrity art historian, will discuss his new Travel Channel show from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 17 in the new classroom building at Mesa State College.
The show, “Art Attack with Lee Sandstead” will begin Nov. 30. On the show, Sandstead travels the world discussing his love for art. For information visit http://www.sandstead.com.
