Figure skating

• Jeremy Abbott won the gold medal Saturday at Cup of China event in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series.
Abbott, whose father Danny lives in Grand Junction and who trains in Colorado Springs, had a score of 233.44 points, the highest ever for a U.S. male at an international competition.

Outdoors

• Glen Canyon rec area free to vets on Veterans Day

All military veterans and current members of the Armed Forces and their families will be admitted free to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area on Tuesday.
Glen Canyon NRA, which includes Lake Powell, has been observing Veterans Day since 2006 by waiving all entrance fees to active and retired military personnel and their immediate families.
All other user fees, such as camping, boat rentals and tours, will apply.
