STRiVE events today

Open houses will be at the STRiVE headquarters, 950 Grand Ave., the downtown retail store Uniquely Yours, 433 Main St. and Western Colorado Botanical Gardens, 641 Struthers Ave.
Call 256-8640 for more information.
Street closure Thursday
Fourth Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, from Grand Avenue to Rood Avenue, to allow for paving of Fourth Street.
Independence Pass to open
The Colorado Department of Transportation will open Colorado Highway 82 over Independence Pass at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Crews will continue to push back snowpack from shoulders, turn-outs and ditches where necessary, as well as work on drainage issues as they arise with the ongoing snow melt. Travelers should check conditions prior to traveling mountain passes. For roadway conditions, or information, visit http://www.cotrip.org or call 511.
Each year, CDOT sets a goal to get the 12,095-foot pass open on the Thursday prior to the Memorial Day holiday weekend. With relatively mild spring weather, CDOT maintenance patrols on both sides of the pass have broken through the snow, met in the middle, and will complete any necessary repairs to the pavement, guardrail, roadside delineation, signs and more.
