New York City Ballet soloists join local dancers for two 'Nutcracker’ performances
Soloists with the prestigious New York City Ballet will perform alongside dancers from Mesa State College and area dance studios in the Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 13–14, productions of “The Nutcracker.”
Dancer Robert Fairchild, a dancer with the New York ballet company, plays Chevalier in the production. In the popular role of the Sugar Plum Fairy is Tiler Peck, who has been with the New York ballet company since 2004.
Tickets to the performances at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday at Grand Junction High School auditorium, 1400 N. Fifth St., cost $27, $23 and $18. Tickets to the children’s abbreviated performance at 11 a.m. Saturday cost $5 for children and $15 for adults.
After 11 productions of “The Nutcracker,” this is the first time the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra has partnered with the college’s dance department for a more community-oriented production.
