Rescue a dog, cat Sunday at PetSmart

The PetSamaritan Fund will host a dog and cat adoption event Friday through Sunday at PetSmart, 2428 Patterson Road.

Many rescue groups will be on hand with rescue cats and dogs available for adoption.

Yard sale, free eats courtesy of officers

 

Grand Junction Police Department and Mesa County Sheriff’s Department will have a yard sale from 7:30 a.m.–2 p.m. Saturday to benefit United Way of Mesa County.

Items will be set up in the dirt parking lot at Seventh Street and Pitkin Avenue. Come in the morning for breakfast burritos or stop by in the afternoon for hot dogs, chips and soda.

Free workshop set for young leaders

 

The Grand Junction Toastmasters Club will sponsor a Youth Leadership Program, available to participants ages 14–21, at no cost.

The eight-week program will focus on helping youth become better communicators, presenters and leaders.

Body found in lake

 

MONTICELLO, Utah — Authorities are investigating after a body was reportedly found in the waters of Lake Powell.

Dispatchers with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office tell The Salt Lake Tribune a group of boaters reported the discovery about 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies say they were responding to an area near Lake Canyon.
