Briefs: United Way gets Stimulas Help
County food and shelter programs will receive a $36,244 boost, thanks to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Mesa County was awarded the dollars, and the United Way of Mesa County will act as the administrator of the funds, according to a United Way news release.
The United Way is soliciting applications from organizations that deliver emergency food or shelter assistance. Organizations must be nonprofit and eligible to receive federal funds. A volunteer board will decide which agencies share in the stimulus funds, United way said in a news release.
Organizations seeking more information may call the United Way at 243-5364. Application deadline is May 15.
