Health organizations receive grants

Organizations on the Western Slope were announced this week as major recipients of grants by the Daniels Fund.

Recipients include Center for Independence and Hilltop Health Services Corp. in Grand Junction and Colorado West Regional Mental Health and YouthZone in Glenwood Springs.

Emergency preparedness fair March 5

A fair about emergency preparedness will be from 7 to 9 p.m. March 5 at 2881 Orchard Ave., sponsored by members of the LDS church.

Booths will feature 72-hour survival kits, DNA collection and finger printing for children, basic food storage, communication, fuels and cooking, water, family finance, medicine and first aid, hygiene and sanitation, preserving foods, gardening, temporary power, preserving important documents and more.
