Burn season declared over

The Mesa County Health Department has ended the burning season for areas of the Grand Valley below 6,000 feet.

In areas outside the valley, burning is allowed with a Health Department permit.

Agricultural burning is along during the summer in accordance with local fire district policies, the Health Department said.

The Health Department is encouraging residents to use the Mesa County Landfill, 3071 U.S. Highway 50, which accepts recyclable waste from county residents for free.

The compost facility at the landfill is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
