Central debate team second in 11-team meet

The Central High School speech and debate team placed second in the Moffat County Bulldog Invitational speech tournament Friday and Saturday in Craig.

Students from 11 high schools from western Colorado and Wyoming participated in the tournament, which was won by Green River High School.

Central students Kylie Dandurand and Chris Cochran placed first in congressional speech competitions, while Donovan Haynie and Hannah Thomas placed second in congressional debates.

The 27-member debate team also had two third-place finishers — Timbre Sheppard for national extemporaneous speaking and Chris Cochran and Sam Walker for duo interpretation.
