Chamber endorses candidates

The Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce endorsed candidates for the Mesa County Commission, state Legislature and Congress.

Steve Acquafresca, who is seeking a second term on the commission; state Rep. Steve King, who is running for the state Senate, and state Rep. Scott Tipton, R-Cortez, who is running to represent the 3rd Congressional District, won the endorsements. All are Republicans.

The chamber bases its endorsements on the business platforms of the candidates.

Acquafresca is facing a challenge from Libertarian Steve Saint. King is opposed by Democrat Claudette Konola, and Tipton is challenging U.S. Rep. John Salazar, D-Colo., who is seeking his fourth term in the House.
