Christmas tree lots selling out fast
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Christmas tree lots across the Grand Valley.
Several lots said there seems to be an increase in the number of families who want to purchase a live tree this year, instead of using an artificial version.
“I’ve been doing this for five years now,” said Mike Taylor, owner of the Western Colorado Fruit and Produce lot located in front of Big K on North Avenue. “This is the best year I’ve ever had,” he said.
Many of Taylor’s customers have told him that they came to buy a live tree “just to make a change this year,” he said, adding that he didn’t think it had anything to do with the economy. “Everyone plans to spend a little money on a luxury at Christmastime,” he said.
Trees range from $25 to $250 at most lots.
Trees are selling fast this season. Taylor just received a new shipment of trees, but other lots, such as both of those run by the Boy Scouts, have already sold out.
