Clifton-area Park-n-Ride to get upgrade of $1.5 million

By LE ROY STANDISH

Two popular Park-n-Ride lots, on the north side of F Road, east and west of the Interstate 70 Business Loop, are due for an upgrade.

On Monday the Mesa County Commission authorized spending $529,750 as the county’s match for a $981,000 federal grant to rebuild the lots.

Because the lots are inside of Colorado Department of Transportation right of way, the state department is in control of the project and responsible for keeping costs down.

The project will go out for bids later this month and construction is scheduled to begin this fall, said Todd Hollenbeck, manager of the Regional Transportation Planning Office.

The project includes an overlay of both lots, new entry points, expanded parking, improved evening lighting, trash cans, new curb and gutter, and more.

“It is going to be a nice enhancement to that area,” Hollenbeck said.
