Clifton house fire scorches neighboring homes

DEAN HUMPHREY/The Daily Sentinel—The home at 484 Gentle Winds Court was declared a total loss after a fire early Monday. The cause was unknown.

A fire that destroyed a Clifton home early Monday was so hot it scorched the siding of houses on either side, according to the Clifton Fire Protection District.

No one was injured in the blaze, which left a burned-out home at 484 Gentle Winds Court. The American Red Cross was called to help because those homes were evacuated.

The owner of the home at 484 Gentle Winds Court was working out of town and not home during the fire, which was reported at 12:30 a.m. The damage estimate exceeded $100,000.

The home to the south had damage estimated to be more than $5,000 and the home to the north more than $1,000.

Firefighters had the blaze under control by 5 a.m. Investigators still are seeking a reason for the fire, the Clifton Fire Protection District said.
