Clifton man injured in rollover on I-70

A 54-year-old Clifton man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries Friday evening after he rolled his truck on Interstate 70 between Fruita and Grand Junction.

The accident happened in the eastbound lanes of the interstate between mile markers 22 and 23 around 6:45 p.m., Colorado State Patrol Cpl. Denny O’Leary said.

O’Leary estimated the man’s Toyota Tacoma rolled 2 1/2 times into the median, scattering debris across the median. The truck uprooted a large sign indicating a curve in the road.

The man’s name wasn’t released, and his condition wasn’t immediately known.

Initial police dispatch reports indicated the man was unconscious and unresponsive.

O’Leary said troopers suspect alcohol was a factor in the accident.
