Clifton man suspected of theft

An anonymous tip led to the Saturday arrest of a 43-year-old Clifton man, said Martin Donohue, an officer with the Grand Junction Police Department.

Mark Alan Muth, 3239 D 1/2 Road in Clifton, was arrested Saturday morning on suspicion of theft of $1,000 to $20,000, a Class 4 felony, after someone saw Muth hauling a new trailer and Bobcat loader and called authorities Dec. 23, Donohue said.

The caller told authorities it was suspicious for Muth to have either item, prompting officers to investigate.

The Bobcat loader is valued at nearly $20,000 and the trailer at $3,000. Donohue said there was no visible damage done to either item.

The trailer and the Bobcat loader on top of it were stolen off 28 1/4 Road. They were stolen as early as Dec. 8.
