Clifton park-and-ride ready for commuters

Construction on the second of two park-and-ride lots in Clifton is now completed, giving commuters more space to park their vehicles and carpool on Interstate 70.

United Companies of Grand Junction has finished the new 136-space lot at the northeast corner of the Interstate 70 Business Loop and F Road. The project, which included a 61-space lot on the northwest corner that was completed last year, featured resurfacing, new lighting, curb, gutter and landscaping.

“Park-n-ride users will find these enhancements make the facilities safer and more convenient. The improvements provide better access for vehicles, as well as improved lighting,” Mesa County Regional Transportation Planning Director Todd Hollenbeck said in a news release.

Eighty percent of the $1.2 million project was funded by a federal grant administered by the Colorado Department of Transportation. Mesa County picked up the balance of the project cost.
