CMU Soccer to give away $1,600
Do you want a chance for a great return on your investment? Well, at—wait, wait, hold on. This isn’t a complicated deal. Simply spending five dollars to support Colorado Mesa University’s athletes could win you up to $500.
The CMU men and women’s soccer programs are teaming up with Maverick Booster, Inc. to host a raffle to raise money for more travel opportunities, and will be giving away a total of $1,600. Raffle tickets cost five dollars, and one ticket will give a contestant the chance to win up to $500.
“This is our second year of the fundraiser and the raffle was a great success for our programs last year, and we’re excited to give our supporters a chance to win some cash prizes,” said Josh Pittman, head coach of the men’s team.
Even if supporters don’t win the drawings, they still have the chance to enjoy the atmosphere of the games and see graduates of the soccer programs.
“The atmosphere is extremely fun and it’s great to see all the players and to reminisce about the years they were here playing,” said Pittman. “The main goal is to have fun and contribute to our program operations.”
There will be 17 raffle tickets drawn, giving each contestant 17 chances to win money. There will be six drawings for $25, five drawings for $50, three drawings for $100, two drawings for $200 and one drawing for the grand prize of $500.
“The fundraiser is really a great deal because it benefits our programs and also gives our supporters a chance to get something in return,” said Sarah Schnetzler, goalie for the women’s team. “It’s been hard selling tickets but really depending on the number of tickets a supporter buys $1,600 can be won.”
Contestants do not have to be present at the drawing to win, but must be at least 18 years of age to enter. Contestants may purchase multiple tickets and checks may be written to The Maverick Club.
