CMU women up to No. 13
Back-to-back road wins helped the Colorado Mesa University women’s basketball team jump to No. 13 in this week’s USA Today/WBCA national rankings.
The Mavericks (10-0, 6-0 RMAC) are one of 10 undefeated teams in the top 25 and have the second-best record in the nation, behind top-ranked Ashland (Ohio) University, which is 12-0.
Mesa, which is off until Jan. 4, when the Mavericks host Colorado Christian University at Brownson Arena, received 312 votes and is the only RMAC team in the top 25. Metro State received one vote this week.
The CMU men’s team (7-3, 4-2), which lost both games on the road Sunday and Monday, dropped out of the “receiving votes” category in the NABC coaches poll. Metro State moved up one spot to No. 2 in the nation, with Adams State the top team receiving votes (31). Fort Lewis, which swept home games against the Mavericks and Western State, received four votes.
