CMU’S Bingaman in third at Oredigger golf invitational
Colorado Mesa University’s Brandon Bingaman shot a second round 67 at Fox Hollow Golf Course in Lakewood on Monday and is in third place heading into today’s final round of the Colorado School of Mines Oredigger Invitational.
CMU is in second place with 563 points.
Fort Lewis College leads the invitational with 567.
Bingaman’s two-round score of 136 is three strokes behind first-place Nathaniel Goddard of Colorado Christian University, who shot a second-round 65 for a two-day score of 133.
Also for the Mavericks, Sean Robbins is in 11th place with a 141 and Kyle Roll 13th with a 142.
After training for a month at the velodrome in Colorado Springs, the CMU cycling team placed second in Frisco, Texas Sept. 19-22 in the USA Cycling College Track National Championships.
“I’m positive they have no idea how enormous this accomplishment is,” CMU cycling coach Rick Crawford said.
Many CMU cyclists had never seenone of the high-angles tracks, Crawford said.
And with Mavericks cyclists Morgan Ryan, Chris Hale, Quint Berkemeier, Cullen Easter, Patric Rostel, Cole Hanson, Alexis Skarda, Stacy Norris, Ariana Dittmer and Lexie Millard, CMU took second as Division II perennial powerhouse MIT placed first.
Fifteen teams were in the championships, including Army and the Air Force Academy.
“These were the best athletes in the country,” Crawford said. “This is great for the future of this program.”
