Colorado Mesa celebrates Fall For Dance
Sofas aren’t just for sitting, it seems.
A dance piece using a sofa as a prop as well as works by Colorado Mesa University student choreographers Sarah Bullock and Gabrielle Cahill, will be featured in Fall For Dance, the university’s annual fall dance concert. It will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7–8, and 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Robinson Theatre in the Moss Performing Arts Center, 1231 N. 12th St.
Audiences will see a variety of dance styles, from contemporary to tap, as well as ballet, jazz and hip-hop.
University faculty Melonie Buchanan-Murray and new, full-time faculty member Tracey Bonner, will be among the featured choreographers, along with adjunct instructors John Kelley, Connie Monroe, Kathleen Riskey and the program’s founder and faculty emeritus, Ann J. Sanders.
Several guest dancers and choreographers are on the bill, including “the Beyond Boundaries Dance Collective performing a three-part contemporary piece using a sofa,” according to a news release. The piece is choreographed by Robin Collen of State University of New York at Potsdam.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for students.
Call the box office at 248-1604 for tickets or information.
