Comment period extended on drilling

Residents have until April 16 to comment on a proposed master development plan for development of natural gas near Paonia.

The Bureau of Land Management extended the comment period on the environmental impact statement for the development in the Bull Mountain Unit. The project would include as many as 146 natural gas wells, four water-disposal wells and associated roads and pipelines in an area of 19,670 acres in the North Fork Valley.

A public meeting to discuss the project will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 10 at Paonia High School.

Written comments about the Bull Mountain Unit Master Development Plan may be submitted by mail, email or fax. Comments must be received no later than April 14.
