Community moving its surgery center to new plaza
Community Hospital will close First Choice Surgery Center on Friday in order to move into Canyon View Surgery Center, located at 2373 G. Road, just west of Canyon View Park, hospital officials said Tuesday.
The transition from First Choice Surgery Center to Canyon View Surgery Center is expected to be seamless for patients, said Karen Martsolf, hospital spokeswoman.
The surgical center is a joint venture between Community Hospital and local physicians. Community Hospital will also offer urgent care, outpatient imaging and will open a retail pharmacy in the medical office building, Martsolf said.
Future plans for the First Choice property, located at 2596 F Road, are still under review, she said.
“In 2013, 15 physicians and three mid-level providers joined Community Hospital,” Martsolf said. “In addition, Community Hospital was selected as the health care provider of choice by School District 51 and Mesa County.”
Also, the local Veterans Affairs Medical Center chose to partner with Community Hospital to provide some of their surgeries at Community, she said.
“We remain extremely optimistic for a bright 2014 and are confident we will continue to grow and prosper as a health care organization,” said Chris Thomas, Community Hospital president and CEO. “This transition has been in the works for over a year and we are pleased to see it come to fruition.”
Canyon View Surgery Center is located in the new Canyon View Medical Plaza.
Canyon View Medical Plaza is a joint venture between local physicians, Community Hospital and Development Solutions Group, LLC.
The partnership broke ground on the 90,000-square-foot facility in December 2012. Canyon View Surgery Center will occupy 12,474 square feet within the new facility. Community Hospital’s second urgent care location, Canyon View Urgent Care, will also be located within the new Canyon View Medical Plaza.
Community Hospital is a minor partner in Canyon View Medical Plaza, owning 10 percent of the new facility, while local medical groups Pelvic Health & Wellness Center, Surgical Associates of Western Colorado, Urological Associates of Western Colorado, Mesa Women’s Health Care and Western Orthopedics & Sports Medicine will own 40 percent.
Development Solutions Group, a Front Range developer that specializes in medical office buildings, will be a 50 percent owner, holding the land and the building itself.
