Conference to give better look at D.C.

Colorado residents who want to know more about the ways of Washington, D.C., can apply for the 2011 Colorado Capitol Conference, sponsored by Mesa State College and Sen. Mark Udall, D-Colo.

The conference, which traditionally has been sponsored by the state’s senior senator, is designed to offer residents from all over Colorado a better understanding of the federal legislative process.

The 100 selected participants will meet with members of Congress, the president’s cabinet and other leaders.

“We’re very proud to partner with Colorado’s senior senator to continue this tradition,” Mesa State President Tim Foster said.

“Giving our students and citizens from around the state the opportunity to visit with leaders at the highest levels of our government is a great opportunity for Mesa State College and our region.”

The 2011 Colorado Capitol Conference will be June 8 to 10.  All applications must be submitted by March 1, and conference participants will be announced April 4.
