State Rep. Sal Pace, D-Pueblo, is visiting western Colorado this week as part of a tour of the 3rd Congressional District.

Pace is challenging U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton, a Cortez Republican in his first term, for the post.

Pace will discuss what can be done to create jobs in the 3rd Congressional District, which includes most of the Western Slope and much of southern Colorado.

Pace will meet with elected officials and others to discuss the future of energy development in Garfield County from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today in the Parachute branch of the Garfield County Public Library, 244 Grand Valley Way.

A Grand Junction meeting will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the KAFM Community Room, 1310 Ute Ave., where Pace will discuss economic-development practices on the Western Slope.

Pace will meet with Delta residents from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Artist Michael’s Coffee House, 326 Main St., Suite 102.

Pace began his tour with a stop Tuesday in Leadville. He also will host community meetings in Avon and El Jebel today and Gunnison on Thursday.
