Construction materials company expanding
Construction materials supplier ProBuild, 2779 D Road, is working on a project of its own.
The Denver-based company is expanding its Grand Junction retail location from 4,000 square feet to 52,000 square feet. Construction began in October at the new location, 2773 D Road, and it is slated to open in mid-May.
“We have had a need to grow this yard for a period of time,” company spokeswoman Carolyn Atkinson said.
ProBuild’s offerings in Grand Junction have been limited to basic lumber and framing products. The new facility will be a full-service lumber yard stocked with engineered wood, framing, siding, insulation, millworks and windows.
ProBuild will manufacture millworks, trim work, prehung doors and prefinished interior doors on site.
“We have the ability to localize a lot of the products we currently have to go outside of the market for, making it on site and quickly shipping to customers,” Atkinson said.
ProBuild’s Grand Junction location has 13 employees. That figure could quadruple when the new site opens, Atkinson said.
ProBuild will look for staff with experience in the building-materials industry, including former and current employees of the company to fill the new positions.
