Construction to begin on Hooters
Construction to build a Hooters restaurant and an accompanying strip mall across from the Wal-Mart on North Avenue is scheduled to begin in June, said Stacey Cook, Realtor for the site and a partner of the developer, In and Out LLC.
Work should be completed in October, and Hooters plans to be open that month.
In addition to Hooters, there is space for an additional stand-alone restaurant that faces North Avenue. Cook said he is in talks with a sit-down Mexican restaurant to fill the space.
Behind the restaurants, a strip mall will fill out the rest of the six-acre property. There is 58,000 square feet of space for sale or lease in the strip mall. Units range in size from 1,200 square feet to 15,000 square feet.
So far, a dry cleaner, beauty salon, chain restaurant, tanning salon, accounting firm and purified water supply company have agreed to move into the space, Cook said.
“It’s going to be a great little center (to) have all those uses on that end of town,” he said.
