Coroner: No evidence of foul play in Uncompahgre death

There’s no evidence of foul play in the death of a Grand Junction woman whose body was discovered Tuesday in a vehicle on Uncompahgre Plateau, the Montrose County Coroner’s Office said today.

Jodie Anne Valerio, 47, had been reported missing to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office before her body was found around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Sawmill Mesa. While saying there’s no evidence of foul play, cause and manner of death are to be determined by an autopsy, Montrose Coroner Dr. Thomas Canfield said in a release.

Mesa County authorities had asked for assistance locating Valerio after cellphone activity placed her in Sawmill Mesa.
