Coroner rules Timony death an accident

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office on Thursday completed its examination regarding the death of John J. Timony, a 68-year-old male resident of Grand Junction who was a pedestrian crossing Colorado Highway 340 at about 6 p.m. on New Year’s evening when he was struck by a passing vehicle.

The cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries and the manner of death was accident. Timony’s blood-alcohol level was 0.075.

The Colorado State Patrol continues to investigate the death.
