County to build East Orchard Mesa bike trail
Bicyclists who crave pedaling around the orchards at the east end of the Grand Valley will have a direct and safer link from the Colorado River within the next year.
Mesa County commissioners this morning approved a $352,000 contract to build a 10-foot concrete trail along 32 1/4 Road. The trail will climb from the new pedestrian bridge crossing the river adjacent to 32 Road up to C 1/2 Road, giving bicyclists and pedestrians access to the East Orchard Mesa bike loop.
The county received a $230,000 grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation to help pay for the project, with the $122,000 balance coming from county funds.
