County clerk says she’ll run for treasurer

Term-limited Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Janice Rich will announce later this week that she is running for county treasurer.

Rich recently sent an invitation to supporters inviting them to attend the Mesa County Republicans’ monthly luncheon at noon Friday at Two Rivers Convention Center, where she will officially declare her intentions to try to replace Treasurer Monika Todd, who also is term-limited.

Rich was elected clerk and recorder in 2002.

“I’m looking forward to a new challenge,” she said Monday.

Rich indicated in her invitation that former county GOP Chairwoman Lois Dunn will serve as her campaign chairwoman and that Todd will serve as honorary chair woman.

“Monika Todd has graced this county as a public servant for 30 years and she is an excellent example to follow,” Rich said.

Rich also noted that Gena Harrison, who served as treasurer prior to Todd, has endorsed her.
