Cut and run: Man reports assault by ex-girlfriend

A Grand Junction man told police Wednesday afternoon that his ex-girlfriend cut his arm and then drove from the scene.

The incident was reported at 4:08 p.m. and happened in the mobile-home neighborhood at 1550 U.S. Highway 50 on Orchard Mesa.

“We had a Hispanic male who had been cut in the upper right arm, kind of like a slice,” Grand Junction Police Department Sgt. Lonnie Chavez said. “He said his ex-girlfriend had cut him in the arm and then left in a red Ford F-150.”

The man was treated at the scene and later taken to the hospital, Chavez said.

On Wednesday night, police still were trying to track people down for statements, Chavez said. There was a language barrier, he said. Plus, there were few witnesses.

“People were still at work,” Chavez said. “Normally in that area there are so many different things going on and people around.”

Police would not say what weapon the woman was accused of using because their investigation was continuing.
