•  Gary Charles Dech, 65, Fruita, died Nov. 29, 2008, at Family Health West.

Services are pending.

Mr. Dech was a Vietnam veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Garaldine; two sons, Damon of Hobart, Ind., and Lyle McMinn of Pueblo; four daughters, Desiree of Hobart, Jillene Black of Windsor, Rhonda McDonald of Loveland and Renae Byrd of Grand Junction; one brother, Larry of Grand Haven, Mich.; one sister, Marcia Bless of Hellertown, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

•  Arthur Stanley Kegs, 96, Grand Junction, died Nov. 29, 2008, at Mesa Manor.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.

Mr. Kegs was a heavy equipment operator.

Survivors include three sons, Dean and James Ash, both of Grand Junction, and Dennis of Riverton, Wyo.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

• Beverly Jean Ramey, 82, Clifton, died Nov. 30, 2008, at her home.

Private services will take place at a later date.

Mrs. Ramey was a homemaker.

Survivors include four sons, Keith and Kraig, both of Grand Junction, Kurt of Arroyo Grande, Calif., and Karl of Clifton; one daughter, Bevagene Winterwolf of Buena Vista; and three grandchildren.

•  Duane Leon Smith, 79, Hotchkiss, died Nov. 27, 2008, at Crossroads Assisted Living Center.

Services are pending.

Survivors include one brother, Shirley of Hotchkiss.

•  Former Parachute resident Lawrence Wallis St. John, 86, Grand Junction, died Nov. 23, 2008, at his home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Services will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.

Mr. St. John was superintendent of the Garfield County Board of Education.

Survivors include two sons, Lawrence George of Goodyear, Ariz., and Russell Glen of Ludowici, Ga.; one daughter, Sheila Decocq of Grand Junction; one sister, Glendene Breshears of Rangely; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

•  Saed F. Tayyara, 67, Craig, died Nov. 29, 2008, at his home.

Services will take place at noon Saturday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Craig.

Mr. Tayyara was a Moffat County commissioner.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Bunk; one son, Fred of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one daughter, Lisa Coffman of Denver; and one grandchild.

Memorial contributions to the Northwest Colorado VNA or Hospice, or to the new soccer fields at Loudy Simpson Park, all care of Grant Mortuary, 621 Yampa Ave., Craig 81625.

•  Former Delta resident Terry Zortman, 69, Broomfield, died Nov. 29, 2008.

Services have taken place.

Mr. Zortman worked for Kaman Industrial Technologies for 40 years and served in the Army Signal Corps in Korea.

Survivors include his wife, Karen; three daughters, Michelle Hunter of Westminster, Kimberly Portillo of Broomfield and Deana Amman of Sioux City, Iowa; two brothers, Steve of Grand Junction, and Ken of Custer, S.D.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
