■ Victor “Dwight” Browning, 91, Cedaredge, died Jan. 9, 2013, at Horizons Care Center in Eckert.
An open house will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday at 465 N.E. Fourth St. in Cedaredge. Private inurnment will be at Cedaredge Cemetery. A memorial service is planned in the summer.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; two daughters, Judith Welch of Cedaredge and Jennifer Hofschulte of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
■ Wesley William Guptill Jr., 74, Clifton, died Jan. 5, 2013, at Hospice Care Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2881 Orchard Ave.
Survivors include one son, Wesley III of Clifton; two daughters, Cynthia Gusler of Grand Junction and Christa Aylward of Clifton; and nine grandchildren.
■ John Henry Hathaway, 61, Grand Junction, died Jan. 9, 2013, at Eagle Ridge of the Grand Valley.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Clifton Christian Church.
Mr. Hathaway was an auto body mechanic.
Survivors include two brothers, Darrel of Salinas, Calif., and Paul of Bremerton, Wash.; and four sisters, Vivian Haberkorn of Lakewood, and Gloria Stone, Jane Turpin and Bonnitta Gibbs, all of Grand Junction.
■ Bernie Wayne Mendenhall, 80, Olathe, died Jan. 9, 2013, at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Olathe United Methodist Church. A potluck for family and friends will follow at 58763 Falcon Road in Olathe.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; two sons, Dudley W. of Tiburon, Calif., and David W. of Olathe; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

■ Earl Joseph Ruzin, 93, Palisade, died Jan. 7, 2013, at his home.
A private family service and inurnment will be at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn H.; two sons, Steven of San Pablo, Calif., and Timothy of Palisade; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

■ Jose Tomas “Tommy” Delfino Vigil, 56, Grand Junction, died Jan. 8, 2013, at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Mr. Vigil was an industrial laborer.
Survivors include two sons, Jose “Joseph” Vigil and Anthony Sanchez, both of Grand Junction; one daughter, Mary Romero of Grand Junction; his parents, Matias Vigil and Beatrice Herrera of Chama, N.M.; three sisters, Terry Salazar Keagy, Sarah Marques and Connie Vigil, all of Chama; and four grandchildren.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Family members say that Dyer Brainerd Holmes, director of manned space flight for NASA when Americans were making their early forays into space in the early 1960s, has died.
Holmes’ stepson, Pierce Ledbetter, says Holmes died at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis on Friday at age 91. Ledbetter says Holmes died from complications from pneumonia.
Holmes was born in New York in 1921. He was an influential figure in the aeronautics and aerospace industries during a career that lasted more than 40 years.
According to the NASA History Office, he joined the agency as director of manned space flight in October 1961.
