• Former Grand Junction resident Floyd “Bill” Howerton, 73, Palm Desert, Calif., died Jan. 3, 2009.
Services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Grand Junction.
Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Howerton retired from the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy; two sons, Steve of Spokane, Wash., and Mike of Grand Junction; one brother, Marvin Rogers of Tooele, Utah; and two grandchildren.

• Leon R. Mikelonis, 59, Hotchkiss, died Jan. 6, 2008, at his home.
Services will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at Delta Taylor Funeral Services Chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Tena; one son, Jeff Chamberlain of New Castle; one daughter, Amy Shapen of Yorba Linda, Calif.; his mother, Lola Page of Delta; one brother, John Mikelonis of
Florida; and three grandchildren.
• Marjorie Virginia Smith, 84, Whitewater, died Jan. 6, 2009, at Community Hospital.
Services are pending.
Mrs. Smith was a licensed practical nurse.
Survivors include her husband, Jack H.; two sons, Steven D. of Craig and Danny K. of Norwood; two daughters, Peggy Jo Meehan of Norwood and Sulyn Smith of Clifton; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

• Rachel Mae Winters, 97, Grand Junction, died Jan. 6, 2009, at Community Hospital.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Monday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Services will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Roger of Hesperia, Calif.; two daughters, Betty Jo Wilson and Mary Louise Hilgenfeld, both of Grand Junction; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.
